With the last Nintendo 3DS firmware update, some users were having issues opening up the eShop or System Settings apps. Fortunately, another update is now available that fixes these problems. If you encountered the error, which, as a side effect, prevents you from accessing the System Update screen, pressing L, R, down on the D-pad, and A together upon startup of the system will take you directly to said screen, allowing you to return your 3DS system to full operation.
