You've probably seen all the rage on Twitter already, but Disney has acquired LucasFilms for $4.5 billion dollars (can I get a "holy shit?!") This means Disney is now in control over Star Wars and other LucasFilm properties, á la Marvel.

Sounds like a lot of hoopla to make over a little buyout, right? Hahaha-WRONG.
Disney has come out and said that Star Wars Episode VII is slated for release in 2015. Now, this is gaming blog, not a movie one, so the rage over that announcement needs to be stored away for a later time. The important part is how this affects us gamers.

Well, apparently Disney would like to focus more on social and mobile games than console games.

"We're likely to focus more on social and mobile than we are on console. We'll look opportunistically at console, most likely in licensing rather than publishing, but we think that given the nature of these characters and how well known they are, and the storytelling, that they lend themselves quite nicely, as they've already demonstrated to the other platforms."

-Robert Iger (Disney CEO)

In other words, no more Force Unleashed. Instead, brace yourselves for some sort of sick hybrid of Star Wars and FarmVille ported to iOS.
